Few things can ruin an adventurous road trip as quickly as a dead battery in a small town in the middle of nowhere - and with no mechanic. A car’s battery is essential to giving the starter motor the energy required to turn the flywheel until the engine reaches self-sustaining combustion. You have to be sure to get the right car battery sizes and correct terminal locations, as specified in your car’s owner manual. Also, the battery’s given AH (Amp Hour) rating will determine how long the battery lasts overall. This value can be illusive, especially in the case of lead-acid batteries. 4. Battery Replacement
Note: When the battery’s voltage drops below the operating voltage, the mark “ ” will appear on the LCD. Please
replace the battery.
Caution: When changing the battery, disconnect the test leads from the circuit completely.
1. Remove the screws in the back cover of the tester and carefully separate the back cover from the front.
2. Remove the battery from the contacts, noting the polarity of the battery terminals and contacts.
3. Replace with one fresh 9 volt battery.
Note: Do not use rechargeable or lithium batteries in this unit.
4. Carefully replace the back cover and tighten the screws. Do not overtighten the screws as this may strip the threads

well as observing normal electrical safety precautions. Do not use this meter if you are unfamiliar with
electrical circuits and proper test procedures.
2.1 For Your Safety
1)
Use extreme caution when checking electrical circuits.
2) Do not stand in wet or damp work areas when working with electricity. Wear rubber soled boots or shoes.
3) Do not apply more voltage or current than the set range of the multimeter will allow
4) Do not touch the metal probes of the test leads when making a measurement.
5) Replace worn test leads. Do not use test leads with broken or tattered insulation. Only test leads meeting
ETL, cETL, CE, CATIII 600V 1A can be used in this unit.
6) Discharge a capacitor before measuring it.
7) Remove the test leads from the circuit being measured as soon as the test is completed. Never reset the
function/range switch to another range while the leads are still in contact with a circuit.
8) Do not measure voltage when the function/range switch is set on the resistance (ohms) setting. Do not measure
current when the meter is set on the resistance range. Never measure AC voltage when the meter is set on DC
voltage. Setting the meter on the incorrect function may burn out some of the internal circuitry and may pose a
safety hazard.
voltage. Setting the meter on the incorrect function may burn out some of the internal circuitry and may pose a
safety hazard.
9) Damaged meters are not repairable nor is calibration possible. Damaged meters should be
disposed of.
3.0 Operating Suggestions
1) Set the function/range switch to the proper position before making a measurement. When the voltage is not known, it
MUST be determined that the capacity of the selected range will handle the amount of voltage or current in the circuit
(See #3 under “For Your Safety”).
(See #3 under “For Your Safety”).
2) Avoid placing the meter in areas where vibration, dust or dirt are present. Do not store the meter in excessively hot,
humid or damp places. This meter is a sensitive measuring device and should be treated with the same regard as
other electrical and electronic devices.
other electrical and electronic devices.
3) When the meter is not in use, keep the meter turned to keep the battery from discharging.
4) When disconnecting the test leads from the unit, always grasp the leads where the input jacks meet the tester
housing. Do not pull the leads out of the jacks by the insulated wire or transport the tester using the test leads as a
carrying strap.
carrying strap.
5)
Do not immerse the meter in water or solvents. To clean the housing use a damp cloth with a minimal
amount of mild soap.
NOTE: With any measurement made by this meter, there will be some fluctuation of the digital display. This is
due to the meter’s sampling method. This unit samples at a rate of 2 times per second, thus the fluctuation of
the readout.

The GDT-11 is an entry level multimeter used for basic electronics testing. The GDT-11 is a 5-function, 18-range multimeter. It can be used for testing everything from home electronics to automotive wiring. The GDT-11 is easy to use. However, as easy as it is to operate, learning to use this multimeter can be a daunting task. Use a few basic techniques to become proficient at using the GDT-11 multimeter.

Instructions
1
Install the batteries. The GDT-11 multimeter uses a single 9-volt battery. To install the batteries, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the case's back panel in place. Remove the battery's lead from the battery compartment. Connect the battery and place it back into the compartment. Tighten the mounting screws.
2 Turn the GDT-11 on. The GDT-11 has a single control for all operations. This control is a large dial in the centre of the multimeter's front casing. To turn it on, move the dial to the left or right of the 'Off' position, depending on the testing mode. If testing volts, move the dial to the left and select 1 of the 5 voltage test settings.
3
Determine the range being tested. Refer to either the user manual or manufacturer's website for the electrical value of the component being tested. If testing voltage, determine the voltage load before choosing the testing mode.
4 Choose a testing mode. The GDT-11 can test volts, amps or ohms. Each testing mode is further subdivided to narrow down the testing range. If testing ohms, choose the appropriate ohms setting. The ohms settings are found on the lower left hand side of the dial. Each grouping of test settings is outlined by a white or green border. The ohms settings are surrounded by a green border.
5
Measure Car Battery With Gdt 11 User Manual Pdf
Insert the test leads. The GDT-11 comes with two leads, one black and the other red. The black test lead goes into the 'COM' jack. The GDT-11 has two different jacks for the red test lead. One is the '10A DC' jack and the other is the 'V(ohm)ma' jack. The '10A DC' is used for direct current testing. The 'V(ohm)ma' is used when testing volts, ohms and amps. Choose the appropriate jack. If testing for resistance, use the 'V(ohm)ma' jack.
6 Connect the leads to the component being tested. The GDT-11 comes with two test leads. The leads have 1-inch-long metal tips. When testing a component, place the black lead on the negative terminal and the red lead on the positive terminal.
Gb Instruments
7 Adjust the multimeter's settings. If the reading on the multimeter's digital screen gives a '0' reading, adjust the GDT-11's settings either up or down. The GDT-11 has five voltage settings, five ohm settings and four amp settings. Set the testing mode to either a higher or lower setting based on the component's specifications.
Tips and warnings
Gb Instruments Gdt 11 Manual
Use alligator clips to hold the leads to the component being tested.
